When you volunteer or donate to HCRN, you are helping a community and a family heal. Volunteer teams come from across the U.S. to rebuild homes for disaster survivors in Northern California. Recently, Linda Roa volunteered with others from her church, Sebastopol Community Church, with our staff in Paradise.

They painted the interiors of two homes and worked at the Adventist Health Distribution Center, sorting and organizing several truckloads of donations for fire survivors. Roa said “It’s meaningful work to help other people. Our church has sent volunteers across the country to help after disaster, but with fire after fire in California, we’re sticking closer to home.”

This was the third time the church has brought a team to serve with HCRN, their first two trips were in Middletown. “It was good to see life and vitality in Paradise, it was sad to see all the properties with nothingness, but rebuilding is underway.” She said, “it’s always nice to work with you because it’s so well-organized and the staff is great.”

No matter your skill level, there is always an opportunity for you to impact the lives of fire survivors. Your presence in the lives of our homeowners is a big part of how they recover emotionally, spiritually and materially from the tragedies they have faced. Thank you to our volunteers who didn’t think they would be enough, and for how much you were able to do.
