Building continues in Marengo but church still needs your help.Marengo IN -- Building continues in Marengo, Indiana as teams from the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) labor through temperatures near 100º.
CRWRC began the fifth and final home and now has it under roof. CRWRC has done an incredible job and is very impressed with the Affordable Home Collection that 84 Lumber has sold to Weather the Storm at a deep discount. The project in Marengo is scheduled to conclude by October 1. The team has recently moved from the elementary school to a closed motel 15 miles out of town. Site coordinator Fred Visser tells me they have everything they need, but gift cards for food are always appreciated. For more information, contact CRWRC at (800) 848-5818.
As fast as the homes have gone up, just the opposite has been happening at Cedar Street Baptist Church. Pastor Ed Conway founded the church and serves a congregation of about 45 people. The original church, built in the 1880's, was swept away by the tornado. Pastor Ed has had to endure many obstacles in this rebuild project, including having to purchase several attaching properties. The walls are up and the building is under roof, but that may be as far as they can go unless help is found soon. Here is what is needed to finish the project.
A special thank you to Kwikset and Price Pfister for their donation of doorknobs and handles and the beautiful faucets for the five homes in Marengo. Thanks, Erin. Kevin
