As the smoke clears a new day begins as the Long Term Recovery process begins in Southern California.750,000 acres burned, over 3,600 homes destroyed. 22 dead, hundreds more injured. For some, life will go on as if nothing ever happened, but for some, life will never be the same. Long after the smoke clears, shelters close and the news coverage fades away, the Long Term Recovery Committee begins their long range process.LTRC is the term used for the organization that picks up where the others have left off. The LTRC is responsible for the unmet needs of those who may have fallen in the cracks and still need help or in some cases still have not received assistance. It is a stressful assignment that takes a great deal of compassion and discernment, yet at times is sorely overlooked. It's a thankless task, but for those who truly have a heart to serve; it is a most rewarding experience. HCRN will be visiting Southern California for just that reason. At the request of FEMA, we will be taking a team to work with the LTRC teams in the communities that were affected by the wildfires. Please pray for our team as we work with local churches and agencies that have been working so tirelessly to provide services to those who were impacted by this tragedy.
