Tornadoes and torrential rain swept across Tennessee and Mississippi

this weekend.  The wicked spring weather is being blamed for at least 15 deaths

since Friday. The storms dumped more than 17 inches of rain in Tennessee

causing widespread and dangerous flooding, especially in Nashville.

At least five deaths are blamed on the floodwaters.

Emergency crews provided emergency evacuations and water rescues for

more than 1,000 people as the flood waters rose.  City leaders say it will be

several days until the water recedes enough to allow them an accurate review

of the damage.  The flooding closed nearly 15 miles of Highway 65 and flooded parts

of Highway 24 as well.

In Mississippi, another deadly tornado struck Yazoo, killing one person.  The same city

was devastated by a huge tornado on April 24 that killed ten.
